The Council for Medical Schemes is a statutory body established by the Medical Schemes Act (131 of 1998) to provide regulatory supervision of private health financing through medical schemes.

Press Release 7 of 2018: CMS welcomes court judgement on removal of Ms Khosana as SAMWUMED Curator.
The Council for Medical Schemes (CMS) welcomes the Western Cape High Court judgement to remove Ms Royal Khosana as the Curator of the South African Municipal Workers Union Medical Aid Scheme (SAMWUMED). Ms Khosana is replaced by Mr Joe Seloane, who assumes duty as the new Curator for the scheme with effect from today. To read more, please click on the link above.
